Thomasina Winslow: Song Lyrics/News

Moon Goin' Down Lyrics: As sung by Thomasina Winslow - November 6, 2008

Ah well moon goin down babe
Sun's about to shine
Well now
Moon going down babe
sun's about to shine
Well Johny Henry told me this mornin'
I don't want you a hangin round.

Well now where were you now baby
Clarkston Mill burned down
Tell me where were you now baby
Clarkston Mill burned down
I was way down in the sun
plowin' and my face all full of frown

There's a house overyonder
Painted all over green
There's a house over yonder
Some of the finest me lawd that
You have ever seen

Oh the smokestack is black and the
Billage shines like gold
Smokestack iis black and the
Billage shines like gold
Well I ain't gonna stop walkin'
Till I'm in my riders door.

Lord I think I heard that
Helano whistle
Helano whistle
Helano whistle blow
Think I heard that a
Helano whistle blow
I ain't gonna work here nor
Tarry round no more

Note: There will be a blog soon but in the meantime if you want an explanation of some of these lyrics use our e-mail and ask away!

Rowdy Blues Lyrics - November 6, 2008

Ain't gonna Marry
neither settle down
I'm gonna stay right here
till they tear this barrelhouse down

Oh I love you baby
tell the world I do
Oh I love you baby
tell the world I do
I don't love nobody in this
whole round world but you

Ain't no use to weepin'
ain't no need to cryin'
aint no use to weepin'
ain't no need to cryin'
Cause you got a home jus' as
long as I got mine

Well have you
ever dreamed lucky now
woke up cold in hand
ever dreamed lucky now
woke up cold in hand
I would call that yonder
nothin' but a monkey man

Well did you
get that letter I
mailed in your back yard
did you get that letter I
mailed in your back yard
it's a sad to say but the
best of friends have to part

Getting Rowdy - October 26, 2008

On September 29, 2008 YouTube featured our video (Nick Katzman and myself) of the song "Rowdy Blues" by Country blues great Kid Bailey.
On that day there were 83,000 views! It was awarded most viewed during that week.
As of today the views for "Rowdy Blues" have truly gotten rowdy with over 294,000 views! This is just amazing and I am so happy and honored to be a part of it. The grand total for all three videos that I did with Nick exceeds 320,000.
If you have not seen these videos check them out from our links page. If you have already just check it out to see the numbers. It is just fabulous.
I am not only excited for myself but also for the exposure of the Acoustic Blues (formally called Country Blues) because it is the foundation of all we hold dear, and tap our toes to, and clap our hands for in the music of America.
When you view it again or for the first time leave a comment.

Acoustic Blues at the Mall! - August 16, 2008

This is a great opportunity for the acoustic blues to have some huge influence on the ears of many people. It is going to be fabulous to bring this music to such a wide audience and to be able to do it this way (someplace as diverse as Colonie Center Mall) in my own hometown is just amazing. I will look to see you there if you wanna just stop while you shop. Stop by!

You Guys Are The Best - December 30, 2007

I want to take the time to thank you all for helping to make Caffe Lena such a great success!
It has been a busy holiday season and the New Year is just around the bend, but I did not want the year to go by without expressing my gratitude for the wonderful show of support for me and this great music which is my passion. I look forward to seeing you all at future gigs in the coming year.
Happy New Year!

Local Television Show Launches - November 24, 2007

Local Channel 18 Bethlehem Public Access, has launched a new show called "Everyday Bethlehem People" that will air on Mondays at 6:00pm. The theme song by the same name is sung by me and Michael Harrison a singer/songwriter that I have had the pleasure to meet and play music with.
This is an exciting venture and a great show that the hostess my very good friend and colleague Mary Rea has created to introduce the Bethlehem community to their neighbors who are outstanding in their giving to the community and the world. I am very proud of "Everyday Bethlehem People" and as you watch it you will be most impressed with the professional and genuine communication style that Mary Rea brings to it. I think you'll like the song as well which by the way she and Mike wrote together. It is a great program that I am honored to be a part of. Enjoy!

Back From Europe - August 11, 2007

The performance highlight of this trip to Europe was the Stamford Folk and Blues Guitar Festival in Stamford, England.
Both Nick and I gave extensive workshops. Nick's workshops were on the music of Robert Johnson and if you are a fan of Delta Country Blues I don't have to tell you who that is.
I gave my workshops on fingerstyle blues basics dealing mostly with technical options for all players beginner to advanced.
The evening concert in England was wonderful and standing room only. What a pleasure that was!
Berlin was busy for us as well and the work that we did there will be seen soon so keep an eye out for us.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers my journey was safe and AMAZING!!

Bojembe - April 13, 2007

Thomasina co-founded the R&B/Funk band Bojembe with drummer John Zumbo and it became a powerful collection of musicians from all over the State of New York. It was first conceptualized as a power funk trio and became a quartet. The originals go beyond style categories with influences from soul, funk, gospel, and world music.....read more about it on the web at the Bojembe link.

Blues in Europe - April 10, 2007

I am very excited about this tour. It will be my first in Europe. First Berlin, then to Stamford England for the Folk and Blues Guitar Festival, then back to Berlin! I want to take the time to thank two very important sponsors.
The St. Anne Institute where I have worked as a music teacher for many years, and Educational Mentoring Through the Arts and Humanities
Where I work as a consultant on arts in education for children at risk. Through their support I now pursue my career as a performing artist in this music that I love.
